### What motivated you to apply at Layerise?

I have always thought that startups offer a great environment where you can get to discover the country’s culture. On top of that, in these fast-growing organizations, you can develop as a professional a lot quicker than in other corporations. These are the main reasons why I applied to Layerise. 

### What separates Layerise from your previous jobs?

I came to Denmark from India carrying 6 years of IT experience on my back. I have previously worked as a Product Owner, Scrum master, and project manager. My whole career has been a blend of Business and IT.

Layerise has been unlike anything I have ever tried before. Layerise offered me a new playground where I could experience something completely new from my previous jobs. Here I am not limited to a solely technical part and I got rid of very repetitive tasks. Instead, I get to interact with customers and challenge myself to be the best representative of the company. I take pride in ensuring that our customers are happy with our solutions and have found what they were looking for. Layerise has given me a reason to explore and the creative freedom to bring new ideas to the table and to build a solid understanding of what Customer Success means.

One of my recent projects has involved the customer help center. In this project, I had the freedom not only to design the customer help center but to also sit with the management team and discuss how the product should look like. I think that getting to discuss directly with the high management is very exciting because you feel you are contributing to the success of the company. From my experience in big companies, you never get the chance to have such opportunities where your ideas are being heard by the leadership team.  

### How would you describe our workplace dynamics?

In the Customer Success team, we are very transparent with each other. Martina is for sure on the top of my list when it comes to bosses. She encourages us to fix problems on the spot and she is honest with us, that's why it's been working so well for me. If something is not working we will say it and, on the other hand, we are always willing to show appreciation when something is working. That's something that I like the most about the Customer Success team. I think feedback both positive and constructive, is very important. 

### How do you feel like you can develop through Layerise in your future?

At Layerise you are free to work on what you like and to explore different tasks. This is exactly the kind of experience I needed before graduating because that helps me discover the type of job I want to do afterward and what position I could see myself in the near future. This is the kind of freedom that I've always dreamed of in a workplace and at Layerise this is exactly what I'm getting! 

### Is there anything you would like to say to people considering joining Layerise?

If you hate long-haul interview processes as I do, then Layerise is your place. They know what they are looking for and they won’t leave you hanging. The hiring process is fast and direct. Layerise doesn't like to waste time; not theirs nor yours. 

I recommend you to come to Layerise with an open mind and heart. People are willing to teach you as well as learn from you. 

On top of that, I usually feel like I don't belong here since it's a new country for me, but in Layerise I immediately felt like I belonged. I don't feel like an outsider and that applied to the whole team. 

I think that's the best compliment you can give to a company. 

### If you could choose to live in a fictional world, which would you choose?

Harry Potter, for sure. I’m a Gryffindor to the core!  


### How would you describe your role as an Account Executive at Layerise?

As an Account Executive, every day I have meetings with companies that are passed over to us from the SDRs and my job is basically selling Layerise. This means talking to different companies all around the world, negotiating and taking them through the whole pipeline, and ultimately bringing them on board. Moreover, sometimes I am helping to call out companies and find prospects as well, which is equally exciting as it gives me the opportunity to experience the process of building the foundation for the entire sales process. It has really become a passion of mine - bringing people on board as well as leading the way of such a visionary idea to life. Furthermore, one of the best things about this job is that every day is different from the one before. You get to meet new people every day from all around the world sitting in different offices. What I really enjoy is that I see every meeting as an opportunity to grow this company and to get the message out and I think it is such an important message. I love that Layerise focuses on what people are actually looking for now as we don’t need an infinite number of products in the world, we need to cater to existing customers and we do it in the best imaginable way.  

### What makes you want to stay in this company? 

It is definitely the fact that I am learning and growing every day. Moreover, I have the best leaders I have ever had that re-energize our work and just simply inspire us every day, and that makes the work itself very enjoyable and makes you never want to leave. Since I started at Layerise, I have learned more than I could have ever imagined and I can definitely see Layerise’s impressive growth potential. Being part of Layerise makes me feel like I can conquer the world - learning every second and being surrounded by the most amazing and knowledgeable community. Everyone is so good at sharing knowledge and nobody is scared of being too upfront or honest, and that is something I value greatly. We are not scared of learning. Lastly, it is the product itself as when working in sales, I would never want to work for a company that is selling something I would not want to buy or recommend to anyone else. This is definitely not the case here as I see Layerise in everything I do. We are touching on so many points that really help everyone involved, from customers, companies, and distributors to retailers as it helps educate everyone on different products so they can provide better services as well. Thus, I can really see how such a purpose-driven company can have a more far-reaching impact.  

### What advice would you give to a potential future Account Executive?

Keep in mind that Layerise is still a start-up company with a lot of growth potential. If you have the drive and a hard-working mindset that matches the company’s values, Layerise can really “take you to places”. If you happen to become part of this now at such an early stage, imagine how much you can grow in a few years’ time. However, be prepared to learn a lot and share your knowledge with the rest of the team every single day. This means being ready for an open and transparent environment, but most importantly not being afraid to be your own unique self. Being yourself and even perhaps slightly “quirky” really makes you stand out in sales as it makes you more personable, trustworthy, and likable. The final piece of advice would be to always seek the knowledge and ask questions as there are no stupid questions and it is important to take ownership over your own growth. Get going and keep yourself busy! Don’t just sit around - make a difference and you will take off like a rocket!

### How would you describe Layerise’s company culture?  

For me, it is relatively simple - open communication and a lot of drive. We want to exceed our goals all the time and we do it all the time. But it is not just about “hitting the numbers”, it’s about growing together as a team and enjoying what we do. Moreover, we are all very upfront and transparent in a way of communicating both with our partners and internally. I believe that is truly the only way how we can get better. And we do it together.

### How does Layerise empower you to master your skills and what do you do to ensure your constant success?  

Everyone who joins Layerise starts growing immediately as we all grow as fast as the company grows.  And it is a skyrocketing growth. The product and the software are just so unique that it has made me want to become a “software geek” wanting to know everything from A to Z. Furthermore, our leaders make sure we always have room for improvement, for learning new things, and new capabilities of the product. We are all empowered by such a great management. Also, I often try to bring in new knowledge and take ownership, I ask all types of questions and seek to get an answer. My job is essentially like a drug - it was fun to get the first deal in the house, then the second deal and suddenly you want more and more! 

Additionally, in my spare time, I often watch YouTube videos and I follow a lot of entrepreneurial groups and their discussions about E-commerce or marketing initiatives.  This has proven to be very fruitful in my job as I can use this knowledge when talking to marketing managers, customer support, or CEOs. 


### Could you tell us more about your day-to-day role at Layerise?

At Layerise, I am mostly working on front-end jobs such as building interfaces or creating some new features for the products. I usually start my day by checking my e-mails and following up with the most urgent tasks. Every morning, we also have an engineering huddle where we discuss the most important things like updating each other on our statuses, resolving issues, sharing our thoughts and ideas, or discussing things we are unsure of.  Additionally, every two weeks we have “the start of the sprint” with other members of the engineering team where we are given specific tasks/ features we have to take care of and we arrange them by priority. This makes my day-to-day work very organized and structured. Even though I work remotely, it is very comfortable as we are currently a small team of engineers. Thus, it is very easy and pleasant to communicate with each member of the team, but also with the management. The management always listens to us, they are always available if we have any questions or if we need more input and data from them to complete tasks. Long story short, they are always open and willing to jump on calls with us. This makes remote work very possible, pleasant, and utterly successful. 

### What is the best thing about working at Layerise as a Senior full-stack Engineer?

The best thing about working at Layerise is definitely the impact we are making. Our work is so much different than what you would usually expect from other engineering jobs. Due to open communication, we are allowed to let our creativity run free and always apply our skills in real life. The goal here is not only to “make things work”, but to think in advance about the general consequences of each implementation. We never build an integration that would fit only one customer. We rather think outside the box and give prominence to further overall development. Moreover, my work is never getting “lost in the pile” as we are building products that are being used by the actual customers. This means that the quality of work is very high, which is really empowering for me and gives me a lot of motivation to do my job well. 

### How would you describe the difference between your current job and previous engineering jobs?

The biggest difference is definitely in communication styles. It often happened in my previous jobs that we wasted quite a lot of time on trivial tasks because of communication issues. Going back and forth inefficiently between each member of the team not only cost us our precious time, but sometimes our work just ended up being “thrown away”. This is unquestionably not the case at Layerise as our communication style is very open, transparent, and structured. I always know that I work as efficiently as possible and that my work will never be “forgotten”, but will be used by the customers pretty soon. This thought truly brings a new perspective to my field of work. Additionally, the projects I have been working on at Layerise have never been boring as I am always given very different and challenging tasks while working with the most modern technologies. My personal impact on Layerise’s communication and decision-making process is what really stands out in comparison to other companies I have worked for.

### How does Layerise empower you to master your skills?

The fact that we are working on an incredibly modern technology stack has really enlarged my skillset and empowered my personal development. It is very challenging and exciting at the same time as I am working with something that is very valuable on the market right now. The more you become integrated into “this world”, the better expert you become in the current state of the top technology trends. Moreover, as a senior engineer, I am making actual impactful decisions, and thus, learning and growing my skillset every day is inevitable if I want to provide the best solutions for the needs of the system and ultimately of the product. This also motivates me to read the newest technological articles or watch videos from different conferences in my spare time to make sure I never stop growing. Once I see a new trend in technology coming up, I usually want to try it in real life. If it is a success, I always share it with my team and we discuss its possible implication. 

### What does Layerise mean for you?

Demanding, challenging, and empowering environment, where I am always being heard and respected. It is a place where I am free and encouraged to make my own decisions and carve my own unique career path. The company’s forward-thinking approach is very unique, especially since it is still at the relatively early stage of development. This has really shown me Layerise’s potential and thus, I am thrilled, humbled, and grateful to be a part of its family. 


### What is your role at Layerise?
As a senior software engineer, I am involved in many processes. This is due to the fact that we are a core team, thus, I am doing the whole cycle ranging from investigating and estimating tasks to implementing new features, fixing bugs, improving infrastructure, or monitoring our services in production. I start my day by checking my mailbox and brainstorming what needs to be done today. We have configured notifications from different services (for instance, AWS, Sentry, or Stripe), which means that I usually check if any errors or issues have been caught there. Later on, we have a short daily stand-up where we share our current status, which is very essential for me as I am working remotely. Thus, communication with my team is everything to me. Moreover, other parts of my day revolve around coding, doing code reviews, and of course, jumping on calls to discuss arising issues and making sure everyone is updated.

### What do you value the most in the Layerise workplace? 
First of all, I definitely highly value the freedom this work has given me. We are currently working with quite a fresh stack of technologies with modern designs and short distances between company owners and employees. This means that you can always share your feedback and make an impact on the tech processes and decisions inside the company. Furthermore, I value our fearless attitude towards trying new things and new technologies, which makes it a very exciting workplace. We usually conduct thorough research about a new technology we would like to implement to see if it would bring any added value to our project, and most of the time we are not afraid to pursue it and give it a try in real life. This “fearless culture” has made me be less afraid of “unknown territories” and I have become confident in bringing new ideas to the table. On top of that, I love the product itself. It is diametrically different from boring webshops and typical e-commerce platforms. It is true that working with such a product brings a lot of challenging tasks, but solving them is really enjoyable,  and never boring.

### What is Layerise's company culture like for you?
The company is transparent, ambitious, forward-thinking, and the most friendly. All the employees can always see and be involved in where Layerise is in terms of financial metrics, goals, or the number of customers. As I work remotely, such transparency is very important and valuable to me. As a part of the developers’ team, I can say that we are always aware of what people in different departments are working on, what feedback customers give on products, etc. Everybody makes sure that even if you are not in the office every day, you are as important part of the team and company as everyone else. Overall, I just love the spirit we have at Layerise as we always help each other, share our thoughts and make decisions together. Having such a warm and friendly atmosphere is a foundation for great success. 

### How does Layerise ensure your growth?
Layerise ensures my constant growth just by having a tech-forward culture. This means that we work with the edge stack of technologies and have complex tasks so there is always room to learn something new and improve your current set of skills. Nowadays, not that many developers have a chance to work with such fresh technologies as GraphQL or Nexj.js. I only kept hearing about them before joining Layerise and now I am very thrilled to have the opportunity to immediately dive right in and see how it works. Since we are quite a small team, we are all responsible for the features we develop and for the technologies we choose. Therefore, it is vital to understand everything in depth, which motivates the team to keep improving. It is safe to say that my current tech skillset is now substantially larger than my “pre-Layerise” one. 

### What do you do to ensure your constant development as a software engineer?
I mostly rely on online courses and tech video channels on YouTube, I read tech articles and sometimes I watch professional tech conferences. For instance, as we are currently working extensively with Next.js - one of the most modern technologies, this year I and my team joined Next.js Conf 2021, which was the first interactive online global user conference. This experience was very inspiring and definitely expanded our skillset. Additionally, it was a very enjoyable time spent with my colleagues where we had an opportunity to learn together.             

### How would you say Layerise stands out from your previous workplaces?
Layerise is definitely the most transparent company I have ever worked for. This means that I always know what happens inside the company and even more amazingly, you can always ask for help with things that have been worrying you, and everybody makes sure your problems are going to be solved in no time and that you are never left alone. You can also always share your own thoughts and your feedback, which means that you never have to be afraid to speak out. Secondly, the tech stack here is way more fresh and modern than the average stack of technologies in the other companies I have worked for. This means that sometimes in some projects in the past, I had to wait for upgrading to the latest version of libraries for years, but at Layerise we keep the packages up to date!


### How would you summarize what you do?
As a Sales Development Representative, I am mainly focusing on finding prospects and building awareness of the Layerise brand. Through cold calling, emailing or LinkedIn prospecting, I am sparking the customers’ interest in this unique and state-of-the-art product. Once I get the customers on board, they are being passed over to our account executive. Generally, the most enriching experience of my job at Layerise is to see people’s problems being solved with our solutions effortlessly and comfortably.  

### What does Layerise mean for you?
Layerise is the place where I can grow exponentially every day while having fun. After working here for a couple of months, I have realized that if you have fun at work, the happier you are, the more productive and efficient you become. Thus, for me, Layerise is also a place where being happy is the main resource of productivity. I believe that you attract the energy that you give off and I bring that philosophy into the prospecting part of my job. Moreover, it is a place where I always feel supported by strong leadership but at the same time have the opportunity to be independent and make my own decisions.

### What makes Layerise a great workplace? 
First of all, it’s my team. I think the team is extraordinarily supportive, therefore, Layerise has become a family-like place where you can reach out to your colleagues anytime and share your experiences comfortably. Secondly, it’s the opportunity to never stop learning and possibly the only place where you can put the theoretical knowledge into practice and see the result immediately. Additionally, it’s the product itself. The product that is so unique as it is pretty much the first in the market, makes the whole process even more exciting and just the right amount of challenging. Challenging in the sense that we have to pitch the product in the most simple way possible so our customers feel less overwhelmed and more excited about wanting their problem to be solved. But what is more enriching than knowing that you are the one helping them?

### How is your current job different from your previous sales jobs?
Every sales job is different depending on the company. Since starting working for Layerise, I have learned how to be way more confident in what I do thanks to the more open and encouraging environment. For instance, cold calling has become much less nerve-racking as now I feel more comfortable and self-assured speaking the customer’s language. Furthermore, perhaps a different strategy that is being taught here is to always have fun at work. This might sound trivial, but it is important to remember that customers are perceptive. When I truly enjoy the conversations, it leads to more natural selling propositions and ultimately more success. At Layerise, I have learned that happiness and success go hand in hand.  Moreover, our market here is more international, thus, now I am exposed to different perspectives, approaches, and ideas, which is very empowering.  

### How is your career growth ensured at Layerise? 
The leadership definitely gives us the opportunity to grow here through their never-ending support and transparent communication. We meet every morning to discuss and exchange new strategies, which always gives me a lot of energy and motivation to start my day successfully. Moreover, to be more effective in my job, on the side I try to get inspired from, for instance, sales books that I got from sales management, posts and articles on LinkedIn as well as watching several Youtube sales channels at home. All of these have proven to be fruitful when it comes to the effectiveness of cold callings and follow-ups with customers.

### If you could, what would you tell your younger self when deciding to apply for this job?
Don’t be afraid of the competition. Of course, if you are in sales, you feel like you are always competing with your colleagues, but here at Layerise we look at the team performance and we try to reach the common goal through encouragement, respect, and support. 

Be open to new ideas and learnings, don’t be afraid to speak out as, at Layerise, you will always be heard.
